Hope in Darkness: Turn to Jesus

In a world inching toward darkness, find hope in Jesus Christ. Turn to Jesus, lay your burdens at His feet, repent, believe, and receive eternal life. "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)

Hope in Darkness: Turn to Jesus

On July 13, in Butler, PA, President Trump narrowly avoided being shot and killed. Americans took to social media to exclaim their disappointment, hatred, anger, and outrage.

America and the world are inching toward darkness and destruction. Tyranny, communism, foolishness, ineptitude, greed, and oppression of people throughout the world are on the rise.

Dark days lie ahead. But I invite you, reader, to turn to Jesus Christ and the hope he brings to all the sons of Adam.

Please read on to learn about a pilgrim named Christian.

Hope in the Darkness

Meet a pilgrim whose name is Christian. He had a great burden on his back.

He said the following to his wife and children:

I am undoubtedly informed that this our city will be burned with fire from Heaven, in which fearful overthrow, both myself, with thee my wife and you my sweet babes, shall miserably come to ruin, except some way of escape can be found, whereby we may be delivered.

His family and friends thought that he had lost his mind and told him to sleep on it. They advised him to sleep so that his troubles would disappear.

They asked him how he felt when he woke up the next day.

He said worse and worse.

Pilgrim spent time alone in the fields and burst out with a question bothering him.

What must I do to be saved? (Acts 16:30-31)

Christian then met a man called Evangelist, who pointed with his finger and said, "Do you see that small wicket gate in the distance?"

CHRISTIAN AND WORLDLY-WISEMAN

Pilgrim said, "No".

The Evangelist said, "Do you see the shining light?"

Pilgrim answered, "Yes, I think I do."

Keep that light in your eyes and go up directly to it so you will see the gate. When you knock, you will be told what you have to do.

Now Christian began running towards the light, and his family noticed he was leaving and called him to stop.

But Christian put his fingers in his ears and ran on crying, "Life! Life, eternal life! (Like 14:26)

Now Christian, after some delay, reached the gate, and above the door, it was written: "Knock, and it shall be opened unto you" (Matthew 7:7)

Christian knocked on the door, and at last, a serious person named Goodwill came, who asked who was there and why he had come.

Christian replied, "Here is a poor, burdened sinner. I come from the city of Destruction, but I am going to Mount Zion, that I may be delivered from wrath to come; I would, therefore, want to enter if you are willing to let me in."

Goodwill said I am willing with all my heart.

Friends – are you today burdened by sin? Are the events of this world weighing you down? Are you struggling with despair, addiction, or hopelessness?

Jesus says:

Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28)

Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me has everlasting life. (John 6:47)

Now is the time to turn to Jesus, lay your burdens at his feet, repent and believe, and have everlasting life.

This world will not last. But those who believe in Jesus Christ will have eternal life.

"And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of my hand. (John 10:28)

Don't wait, friends; turn to Jesus now.

Stay well, brothers.
