The Mission (Spiritual Warfare Operator Series)

The Mission (Spiritual Warfare Operator Series)

Are you aware that spiritual warfare operators (SWOs) are mission-oriented? This is a special mission. This is per direct order by our general and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Our mission: To aid in the conquest of the hearts of men. To boldly proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ so that they may believe in him and have everlasting life.

Brothers, do you understand the importance of the mission and what is required of you to operate in this theater of spiritual war? This mission requires us to be strong in the Lord. Let's review the mission and break it down for you so that you can prepare yourself.

The Mission: Share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the World

The Great (com)Mission

All Spiritual Warfare Operators (SWOs) should know the Great Commission. SWOs call it the Great Commission because it is an order to tell everyone about the good news. To share with the world the gospel of Jesus Christ.

It is a direct order that came straight from our general, Jesus.

And He said to them, Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature

Mark 16:15.

What is the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

๐Ÿ‘‰
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." - John 3:16 (NKJV)
5 Essential Elements of a Sound Gospel Presentation:
  1. That Jesus Christ is the Son of God
  2. That Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life
  3. That Jesus died for sinners (Which is everyone) on the cross
  4. That Jesus was dead for three days, and on the morning of the 3rd day, God raised him from the dead
  5. That Salvation from Hell can only be "obtained" by believing in Jesus Christ

Why Do People Need the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

๐Ÿ‘‰
"For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 6:23 (NKJV)
  1. Because everyone has sinned (Adam & Eve ate the forbidden fruit from the tree of life)
  2. We are separated from God (God, drove Adam & Eve out of the garden)
  3. When people die, they stand before God and are separated from him
  4. God, will judge us and say, I never knew you (Jesus is not there to intercede for you if you have not believed and repented)
  5. God will cast you into Hell for an eternity because you are a sinner

How do we spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

๐Ÿ‘‰
"and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear." Philippians 1:14 (NKJV)
  • Tell a lot of people that Jesus Christ is the Son of God
  • Tell people about Jesus Christ, and why he died on the cross for our sins
  • Declare our faith in Jesus Christ, who rose from the dead after three days, and now sits at the right hand of God in Heaven
  • Give evidence of Jesus Christ and what he has done in their life
  • When talking about the Bible, we state that it is the truth and the infallible word of God (NO EXCEPTIONS)

Operators love to talk about Jesus, period. If you are not a strong and courageous operator, pray that God will give you the boldness to start this mission.

Mission Success Requires Thoughts Obedient to Jesus Christ

Meditate on the Bible

SWOs meditate on noble, pure, lovely, virtuous things. Not worldly things. They spend time reading their Bible and praying for help from God daily. SWOs FEAR THE LORD and pray to Him because they need his help as they read the infallible word of God. By doing this, they get their minds washed of the sinful thoughts in their minds.

Renew Your Mind

SWOs read their Bible, pray to God, and meditate. Renewal takes place within their mind. They set their minds on Heaven and eternity. They look beyond the daily drumbeat of life. They set their mind on God and meditate on Him, which creates peace of mind. They are sober in their views of what it means to live for a short time on this earth. They rest their mind fully on the grace they received from Jesus Christ. They constantly renew their mind by reading their Bible and praying for help from God. They strive to do what is good and acceptable and the perfect will of God.

Reference: Romans 12:1-2

Manage Your behavior

SWOs manage their heart and mind actively. They don't passively live their life. Their thoughts or thought-life direct their actions. One of the fruits of the Spirit: self-control is important in the daily life of an SWO. They do not let their thoughts run rampant in their heads. They know they cannot escape their mind โ€“ if that mind doesn't serve God, the SWO has trouble executing the mission. Because ultimately, how you think, you will be.

The Mission is a Fight

Its a Fight of Faith, Through God's Strength

You are fighting a fight of faith. Why? Because the Devil and dark forces are trying to harm you as you execute your mission. They attack your faith through ambushes, deception, cunning, and trickery. Your physical, intellectual, and mental strength means little in this fight. Brothers, you have to walk in Jesus Christ. You will need the strength of God to be in this fight.

But you can be mighty through his power. How can you be a mighty operator? Put on the armor of God and use the shield of faith and defend yourself from the Devil and his troops. Then you can counter-attack with the Sword of the Spirit (Bible truths). Then resist the Devil by cutting through the lies; he will flee from you.

How You Fight is Important

You need a disciplined temperament to get through this mission. You cannot fight this spiritual war in an undisciplined manner. You have to avoid sin ensnaring you and weighing you down. People are watching you. You are witnessing to other people, and you may not even be aware of it.

SWOs think about how the fruits of the Spirit are evident in your life. Colossians 3:12-14 instructs you and me to put on:

  • Tender mercies
  • Kindness
  • Humility
  • Meekness
  • Longsuffering
  • Bearing with one another
  • Forgiving one another
  • Put on love, which is the bond of perfection

You need to be even-keeled, unflappable and restrained as an operator. Exercise moderation in your life. Why? Because we are on a mission. Plus, when you don't put on what Colossians mentions, then people will think you are a fake wannabe SWO. This harms the mission. Operators are serious people, who pray to God constantly so that they will live a life that pleases and glorifies him while on our mission.

The Fight Requires Endurance

The mission ends when you die, or Jesus returns to earth. But, until one of those scenarios becomes a reality. SWOs walk in Jesus Christ. You don't sit still. You are walking or running towards the prize. The prize of the SWO is to spend an eternity in Heaven with Jesus.

๐Ÿ‘‰
"Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it." 1 Corinthians 9:24 NKJV

But the fight is a marathon requiring the operator to have Spirit-driven stamina. If you don't have Spirit-driven stamina, rely on yourself and your own abilities to run this mission. You are going to fail. You will not be able to execute the mission because you will run out of (emotional, physical, intellectual) stamina.

We are headed toward a specific destination. The destination of a true believer, a disciple of Jesus Christ, is an eternity in Heaven. With every sunrise, we get one step closer to our death. But for the SWO, death marks the end of our earthly mission. Then like Timothy, we can also say the following:

Reference: 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, Phillippians, 1:27, 2 Timothy 2:5, Hebrews 12:1, 1 Timothy 6:12, 2 Timothy 4:7

The Mission Demands Resistance Against the Devil

The Devil is out there, looking for his prey. The Devil wants to devour those serving the Lord and on the mission. The Devil is constantly scheming how to sabotage our role in the mission. He is cunning and tries to trick others. Ensnare, trap us in a variety of ways. But his objective is clear. To harm us so that we become mission-ineffective.

This means that as an SWO, you need to be dialed into this threat from the Devil. Because operators who lack defensive capabilities are unable to carry out the mission, at some point, you are going to get ambushed. You may be severely wounded and incapacitated to the point that you cannot accomplish the mission.

To stop this from happening, you must resist the Devil and be steadfast in the faith. This requires SWOs to put on the armor of God. Part of the armor of God is a defensive weapon called the Shield of Faith. The Shield of Faith will give you cover when the ambush is initiated. The Shield of Faith will help you get into a defensive-faith posture to RESIST the attack.

Reference: James 4:7, Ephesians 6:11-12, John 10:10, 1 John 4:4, Romans 16:10, 1 Peter 5:8-9, 1 Corinthians 16:13, Ephesians 6:13

Conclusion

Your general Jesus Christ has given an order. What will you do, Brother? To wrap this up and review it once more.

  1. Go and share the good news, share the Gospel of Jesus Christ
  2. The mission requires your thoughts to be obedient to Jesus
  3. This mission is a fight till we die or till Jesus returns
  4. You have to be able to stand in faith and RESIST THE DEVIL

I encourage you to read the next post in this series and take a look at the armor and equipment of the Spiritual Warfare Operator. Without your kit, you are going to be mission-ineffective.

Stay well, brothers.

Hope in Darkness: Turn to Jesus

In a world inching toward darkness, find hope in Jesus Christ. Turn to Jesus, lay your burdens at His feet, repent, believe, and receive eternal life. "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28)
